Sunless Universe: intelligent dance music

I recently told someone that, as far as I'm concerned, there are two styles of music: Good and Bad. That's the kind of sweeping generalisation that sounds best over a couple of beers, but I still basically believe it to be true - there is excellent music to be found in all genres.

That said, there's no denying that most of the artists I write for would be found in the Pop/Rock sections of a record shop (or at least, they would if such establishments still existed in any meaningful way).

Most, but not all.

My collaboration with Michael Pringuay, the man behind Sunless Universe, began when he replied to an ad I'd placed on a website somewhere seeking partners to create "intelligent dance music". Hopefully, that's exactly what we're doing with tracks like A Flemish Painting.
