Exercice de style
I recently met someone (a good friend of a friend) who over the
years has lent his talent with the guitar to such legendary French
stars as Alain Bashung, Brigitte Fontaine, Jacques Higelin and Miossec.
As it happens, the man in question is now thinking of creating something of his own, and for a moment it seemed there was every chance that we might work together on a song or two. The last time we met, however, he told me that his plan was now to sing in French rather than English.
Which got me thinking...
Deux Doigts (Et Un Glaçon) is my first real attempt at writing some lyrics in French. Now, I certainly don't intend to offer the song to my guitar-playing friend, but it was an interesting "exercice de style" nonetheless.
